Thing #22 Binding it all together in Live Binders

Writing lessons

I had to revisit Livebinders a few times to truly appreciate it. I tried it once, made a terrible binder titled ed tech to hold my web 2.0 sites I had found in the 23 Things, and decided I didn't like it. I tried again, titling #2 English language arts ideas, this time using the option to let Google fill my binder -- ooh, bad idea unless you like to edit-- and didn't see the value of it. Third time is the charm, I guess.

My binder above, writing lessons, is a work in progress. I made three main tabs that I would need in my classroom. The first, writing prompts, has links to some sites that contained writing prompts. I was observing a teacher who told me that I should have two alternative plans for any given day, because you never know what might come up, such as a fire drill. Having livebinders loaded and ready would be extremely useful when the period is cut down for one reason or another. My other tabs have elements of writing and other resources. These two tabs may need further modification, but they do contain information that I would use in the classroom.

Another use of  livebinders would be to set up a binder for a substitute teacher. The possibilities are endless of what you could place in there-- lessons, PDF worksheets, even a video lesson given by the actual teacher.

Students could actually set up their own livebinders because it is that easy. They can upload a portfolio of Word documents and PDFs into their own individual binders or a public class binder.
What a great way of keeping information together and organized for easy retrieval!
